Apple releases iOS 10.3 beta 3, New Features

If you have any Beta of iOS 10.3 installed on your device right now, then new update Beta 3 is available for download. The update brings with bug fixes and performance related enhancements. Even if you are not a developer, luckily Apple’s latest mobile operating system can be tried out by public beta testers as well.

Now if you’ve beta 1 or 2 version installed on your device. Grab the latest release right now as an over-the-air software. To grab it, Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. As soon as the update is available, tap on the Download and Install button.

The initial release of iOS 10.3 brought with it some really nice changes and improvements. We’ll be discussing those in the succeeding post as well. This latest beta 3 release is most definitely a progression of those improvements and changes.

Find My AirPods

The Beta version of iOS 10.3 contains bug fixes and improvements, new features are introduced as well. Find My iPhone now supports Location and Play Sound for AirPods. Play Sound emits noise from AirPods that reaches a high volume after a few seconds. Location and Play Sound currently work only from the iOS device that was most recently used with AirPods. However, users have found out that Find My AirPods already lets you locate iCloud-paired AirPods via the Find My iPhone mobile app.

Siri and CarPlay improvements

Siri in iOS 10.3 beta can retrieve cricket scores from Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council. The SiriKit framework can now be used to pay bills, check on the status of payments and schedule future rides.

CarPlay in iOS 10.3 beta provides handy shortcuts for launching recently used apps. While CarPlay’s Maps app now highlights electric vehicle charging station locations.

Security and Privacy

Now, there’s a new user security section at the top with useful user information that basically acts as your central place for everything related to you and your Apple ID. The new update also removes support for SHA-1 signed certificates used for Transport Layer Security (TLS) in Safari and WebKit that are issued from a root Certification Authority (CA) included in the operating system default trust store.

Apple File System

Your device’s file system has been updated to the new Apple File System (APFS) while preserving existing data on the device. Apple File System is a next-generation file system from Apple designed to increase data integrity and security across iOS, tvOS, macOS and watchOS platforms.
