  6. Hi, The LGUP tool doesn’t seem to be working for me at all. First my LGUP tool isn’t the same as the one showed up there . It’s a small window with only 2 colums, model and com port. When I select my phone from the option the click select, it reads “You have to select a know model please” Error message. In the window of LGUP tool for model name it reads unknown. In the com ports option it has my phone model number which is Ms6312.b. Which is the LG Stylo . Which is the LG G4 H8151. What should I do now if it doesn’t recognize my phone?

      • Hello Hadi/ I’m also from bulgaria and i was wonderring how did the downgread go? I just got my g4 second hand and the bettery life is bellow one hour 🙁 so i wanna try this method but im scared if something goes wrong.

  13. does anybody know where to get a stock (not root) KDZ file for Canada Rogers Carrier for lg g4 model h812. There is only telus and videotron available from the links on this page. I NEED LOLLIPOP BACK! please somebody help me…..

  14. Hello I have the LGLS991 from sprint is there something I can do? I found these KDZ file: LGGS991ZV5 but my firmware version is ZVB is that a problem? Is there any other method I can use to downgrade to Lolipop? Marshmallo ruined Cinema 4k app and all of 4k video apps and I lost slow motion videos from the original camera app. Thanks!

    • Hi Joel,
If you found comaptible lollipop kdz file for your G4 LS991 then you can try this procedure. But I think your G4 model has perhaps diffrent downgrade method. I checked lollipop files for your G4 and I found .tot and .dll files.

      • hehehe I think it is not possible right? Since LG Flash tool won’t be recognized on marshmallow, I can’t use tot method anymore. Anyways i can’t roll back from ZVB to ZV5 without killing my phone XD Thanks for the Answer! 🙂

    • Hi Hakim,
First if your Phone is running stable and good on Marshmallow then I suggest you not to downgrade but if it is causing problems then Yes this method can be used on your G4 H815 even if it is preloaded with 6.0.

  15. Hi my lg g4 H818p was upgraded to android 6 it’s very bad! I decided to downgrade my phone but I’m very scared I have kdz file and lg up but I can’t findout in step 1 i select refurbish or upgrade please help me thanks

  16. Hi, everybody.

I just got the LG G4, it was already updated to 6.0. Wow… it’s terrible! the problem is that it cannot be downgraded. I’m getting tired of searching how to downgrade it to 5.1.1 but it is not possible.

Any help how to do it?

    Tks!

    • hello, I have the exact same problem as you. Did you figure out how to solve the problem in order to improve the crappy battery life? thanks in advance.

  17. Was wondering. Does doing this stop my phone from receiving future OTA updates?
And, has Marshmallow been updated so that the battery drain is no longer an issue?

    • No, doing this will not stop your phone from receiving OTA updates because the firmware that is used to downgrade is official. Secondly I think currently no newer version of marshmallow on G4 H815 is availble yet.
Subscribe to get all the latest updates on LG G4.

      • Hi, if as you say, my phone should still receive OTA updates, shouldn’t it be telling me that I’m due for an update to Marshmallow again by now? Not that I want to yet, until the battery drain issue has been well and truly fixed, but just asking.
Also, I’ve noticed that the stock rom I’ve flashed as per your instructions above, is not the same version that came with my phone, any comment on that, and, can I find the EXACT version somewhere?

        • Hi David, It doesn’t matter if your phone does not has the exact same firmware it came with. The thing is that firmware running on your phone should be stock and official. Your phone is now running on official stock firmware. So, it is fine. However if you want to find exact firmware then it depends upon country. Find the lollipop firmware released for your country and flash it on your phone. Thanks,

    • Hi,, The method is same but you need a different kdz file for H815P model. Open the link above to download KDZ file. From there you need to click on H815P folder and download any KDZ file H815P10e_00.kdz or H815P10g_00.kdz. For installation of the file, follow the same procedure. But do this at your own risk only.

  18. I just had terrible battery leaking after the Marshmallow update. Your tutorial just saved my phone. …and I also had to hard reset it after downgrading.

    Many thanks, and good luck!

  19. Hi, I had been waiting with excitement for Marshmallow, and finally got it a couple of days ago. What a disappointment! Not only did I not notice any improvements, but my battery life has crashed! Today it dropped from about 85% to 52% in two hours, with the screen closed!
So I was very pleased to find this tutorial on how to go back to lollipop!
Does this v5.1.1 come with all the LG software etc?
    Anyway, great tutorial, Faiq

    • In my case (i commented earlier), downgrading from Android 6.0 to 5.1.1, the phone asked me to download the LG software apps. So yeah, they’ll be included.

      • Yep, done that, and am so glad! Battery life immediately improved! Charged phone to 100%……left it overnight (turned on), and next morning still at 100%!!……had to do a hard reset tho, as phone wouldnt boot, but hey, all the better for that I think!

  20. Thank you so much, Faiq Ahmed! You made my day!

I’ve been searching from the net, solutions for my Android 6.0 (LG G4) phone, for 5 days without getting a result because my phone isn’t rooted. So after reading + doing as you mentioned in this article, it really helped me to get my phone back to Android 5.1.

My phone had really bad sync problems when using Android 6.0 but they’re gone now!

At the time i was downgrading my phone: My phone got stuck at the LG logo + a blue LED light on, so i got the battery off and put it back and hard reseted the phone. And now i’m a happy owner!

PS. Thank you for replying to my previous comment and thank you again for helping me! I wish you the best!

  21. I’m in London and just received the V20d-EUR-XX OTA update. It says that it “improves battery life and installs other fixes from Google”.

It has been less that 24 hours, so I cannot comment on the battery life just yet. However, my G4 can once again pair with my car via Bluetooth (it used to go in to a “crash loop” after I installed Marshmallow).

I’m going to sit tight with this latest update for a while and will see how it goes.

  22. Do i need the root access to be able to downgrade my LG G4?
I haven’t rooted my phone and i want Android 5 back, i shouldn’t have upgraded to Android 6.

  23. Not sure if I have missed something, but LGUP is looking for a .tot file? Do I need to extract the .kdz file 1st, and if so do what do I use to upzip it. WinZip or 7zip can’t extract it? Thanks in advance

    • Hello Chris Buston
If the fie is already kdz then you don,t need to extract it. And make sure that .BIN File is checked, which is below in the file type. If still problem occurs then uninstall lgup and reinstall it. Instal dll file first and then lgup.

  24. yes works for me wish i never updated to marshmallow
did get stuck in boot loop but just do a hard reset
    and all is ok

  25. The Marshmallow update was killing my battery, so I tried the instructions above. My LG G4 is now bricked. The “Life’s Good” logo is showing, and the top LED is glowing blue, but nothing else happens.
