Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is expected return flagship phablet line to greatness. Yes, despite the Note 7’s demise, its successor is due to arrive this year. We now have a better idea of the Galaxy Note 8 features thanks to the Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus launch. The latest news is that a dummy device has been caught on video. We’ve collected all the info here on upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumored Specifications
Galaxy Note 8 Display and Design
A leak suggests, the Note 8 will have a 4K 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. The Note 8 could be one of the first smartphones with a pixel-dense 4K screen. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus look good enough paired down to Full HD 1080p in its battery saving mode. But a 4K screen is important when your phone doubles as a Samsung Gear VR headset screen.
A 6.4-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is more likely and indeed has been rumored, with the source adding that it will be a QHD + OLED display. Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin shared two photos from a leaker called “KK” – and the device that is shown definitely isn’t the S8. This one has a vertical dual camera on the back, and no visible fingerprint scanner.
In the leaked sketch below, there are two circles on the front of the phone at the top, which are likely a front camera and an iris scanner. At the bottom, we find a USB Type-C port, headphone jack, and S Pen slot. The fingerprint scanner is on the back.
A YouTube channel called DBS DESIGNING has just released a concept video to keep our anticipation up. Samsung’s ‘Infinity Display’ doesn’t seem like a one-off marketing term.
- Pixel-sense 4K resolution
- 6.4-inch screen size likely
- ‘Infinity Display’
Galaxy Note 8 Camera
A dual camera setup similar to that of the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, which features a wide-angle and telephoto lens. There have been leaks in the past of Note 8 prototypes that feature a dual camera. Supposedly, the Galaxy Note 8 will have a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 13MP telephoto one, and allow for 3x optical zoom. This setup will allow for a bokeh effect.
- A dual-lens camera
- 3x optical zoom
- Telephoto and wide-angle lenses
Kuo adds that both cameras will also have optical image stabilization, and we also fully expect a 5MP to 8MP front-facing camera.
Note 8 Hardware Specs
- A powerful 3GHz+ octa-core processor
Samsung’s newest phones just premiered in two chipset flavors: The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in the US and its own Exynos 8895 in the UK and other regions. For Note 8 Exynos 8895 is expected. CNbeta leak mentions that the Note 8 will likely have 6GB of RAM, 256 GB of expandable internal storage. Add to that a high-capacity (circa-3500mAh) battery with adaptive fast charging, fast wireless charging and USB-C support.
This video that was shared on Twitter shows us an early build of Note 8, or at least, just the front panel. The phone looks rather big so an earlier leak of a 6.3inch display could be true.

Galaxy Note 8 Software
- Android Nougat or Android O
Wanting Android O on the Note 8 is wishful thinking, but likely being saved for the Google Pixel 2. The Note 8 might adopt an ultra-definition VR feature and have improved stylus functionality. Bixby, Samsung’s rumored artificial intelligence feature that is also presumed to be on the Galaxy S8, could also be making its way to the Note 8.
Release date and Pricing
The IFA Director, Jens Heithecker at a press conference in Lisbon, Portugal, stated that (the IFA) “would be a better place for Samsung to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note 8”. Samsung traditionally unveiled its newest phablet in Berlin just before the IFA opened.
A tweet from Evan Blass referred to a smartphone that may be in the works with the model number SM-N950. Because the Note series has so far used the name scheme N9xx. The Note 7 launched in September, the Note 5 arrived in August. Expect the Note 8 to by October or November at the latest.
